This PhD is part of a larger project that explores confinement and confined lives across four transnational sites. The overarching project investigates confinement as both a restriction of freedom and a form of protection, highlighting its unequal distribution in contexts of urban marginality, displacement and incarceration. Family relationships and trans-country mobility serve as a common entry point to understanding confining dynamics and their effects across the four transnational sites.

3. Fully Funded PhD in Distributed, Embedded and Intelligent Systems (DEIS)
Summary of Funded PhD Program
We seek PhD students that will contribute to new generations of scalable, model-based tools for cyber-physical systems based on a mathematical sound foundation, that enables trade-offs between functional safety, security, quantitative performance, and exploitation of modern machine learning technology. It is the overall hypothesis of S4OS that a full integration of model checking and synthesis with machine learning will provide the key to innovative, highly scalable methods for learning, analysis, synthesis and optimization of cyber-physical systems.
