3. Fully Funded PhD in Energy Flexibility

Summary of Funded PhD Program

The CoDeF project is an EU Marie Sklodowska-Curie PhD training network focused on the topic of consumer energy demand flexibility. Consumer energy flexibility is being rapidly acknowledged as a crucial tool as Europe undergoes the energy transition to climate neutrality and energy security. This research project aims to integrate knowledge of engineering (e.g., mechanical, and electrical engineering) and social sciences (economics, sociology, and anthropology) in a doctoral training programme across 8 European academic and research institutions. The CoDeF consortium brings together a multidisciplinary research team from across Europe to train experts in consumer energy flexibility and develop their key skills to deliver a just and sustainable energy transition.

4. Fully Funded PhD in Large Language Models for Recommendation

Summary of Funded PhD Program

The proposed PhD project aims to advance the field of personalized recommender systems by harnessing the natural language reasoning capabilities of large language models (LLMs). The research will focus on three key areas:

(1) developing methods to construct natural language user interest profiles that enhance transparency and provide user control over recommendations;

(2) designing conversational recommendation systems that utilize LLMs to effectively elicit user preferences and generate tailored responses, including both recommendations and explanations; and

(3) developing approaches to mitigate limitations of LLMs through retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and tool use.
