Prof. Dr. Henner Gimpel works in research, teaching and practice on the analysis and design of digitalization. He deals with socio-technical information systems in which people, information and digital technologies interact with each other. The goals here are, on the one hand, the human-friendly, ecologically sustainable and economically effective development and use of information systems and, on the other hand, the analysis of individual acceptance and use of digital technologies in the financial sector, the healthcare sector or the high-tech industry. The focus is often on the individual in his or her role as consumer, customer, patient, employee and/or user who interacts with information systems.

7. Fully Funded PhD in Weed Science
Summary of Funded PhD Program
Cover crops play an important role in conservation agriculture. They protect soils from erosion and nutrient losses, improve microbial activity and water infiltration, suppress weeds and increase the biodiversity, organic matter content and crop yields. Undersown crops also provide feed for animals. Usually, cover crops are established after harvest of the previous cash crop using no-till seeders or after reduced tillage or after the application of non-selective herbicides. Undersown crop are sown in the early growth stages of the cash crops. Alternatively, cover crops can also be spread into the previous cash crop shortly before harvest. In field studies over three years, weed coverage after pre-harvest sowing of cover crops was lower than after post-harvest sowing.
