Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Two years of related laboratory experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years of related experience, which include experience with research credits in undergraduates
- Two years of laboratory experience with rodent models and assays for cognitive and social behavior
- Experience with animals
- Animal compliance training
Responsibilities
- Research Technical Support: Assembles and operates technical equipment. Sets-up and maintains equipment for the assigned laboratory and updates laboratory computers. Maintains inventory and orders parts and supplies as needed from AggieBuy. Maintains laboratories according to Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) specifications. Provides logistical support with computers in the laboratory. Performs laboratory and prep room cleanup.
- Research Procedure Support: Assists senior staff members in conducting major field experiments and consults in developing procedures. Assists with the participant (subject) pool by recruiting, screening, and maintaining records on research participants. Assists undergraduate and graduate students with their research projects.
- General Lab: Coordinates with the Principal Investigator on the priorities and objectives of research experiments conducted. Manages day-to-day operation. Organizes and maintains laboratory. Maintains storage upkeep and inventory of liquid nitrogen cell line, chemical inventories, animal inventory and makes sure labs are inspection ready. Purchases chemicals for experiments, software updates for computers, and consumables. Aids in purchasing animals for experiments. Aids in onboarding of new Students into the lab. Maintains AUP by adding new students.
- Animal Care: Provides animal care, husbandry, maintenance of breeding and aging colony (including upkeep of transgenic colony). Performs behavioral testing such as: Barnes maze, open field, rotarod, burrowing.
- Training: Participates in training and professional development sessions as needed.
