Job Description: A highly competitive fellowship sponsored by the Harrington Discovery Institute, supporting 25–30 outstanding incoming graduate students each year at UT Austin. It covers full funding to attract top students from outside UT (up to a quarter of awards are for UT incumbent grads).

Role Description: Fellows are primarily newly admitted (or nominated UT undergraduates entering grad school) pursuing any graduate degree. They become UT graduate students and carry out their normal program (coursework and research) with full financial support.

Application Cycle: Annual.

What You’ll Need: Nomination by the prospective student’s graduate program (outstanding admitted applicants are nominated by faculty). All incoming domestic and international students are eligible (i.e., no citizenship requirement). Exceptional academic record and fit with Harrington’s mission.

Preferred or Required Qualifications: Strong academic credentials and research potential. A faculty committee selects Fellows based on scholastic record, character, and potential to become outstanding scholars and citizens.

Benefits and Perks: Full support for up to 5 years of graduate study: $45-50,000 stipend per year, full tuition and fees, annual insurance stipend, and $2,000/year for research expenses (travel, equipment, etc.). Also includes mentoring by the Harrington Discovery Institute community and special honors.
