The Chicago:Blend Venture Fellowship is a four-month, cohort-based program designed to prepare high-potential, underrepresented individuals for careers in venture capital (VC). Launched in 2022, the fellowship offers participants hands-on experience, formal training, and access to a robust network within Chicago’s VC ecosystem.

Role Description:
Fellows engage in a comprehensive curriculum that includes:

  • Venture Finance Education: Formal training through VC University ONLINE, a program by the National Venture Capital Association (NVCA), Venture Forward, and UC Berkeley.

  • Mentorship: Personalized one-on-one mentorship sessions with experienced VC professionals.

  • Practical Experience: Collaboration with local VC firms to source and evaluate deal flow, providing real-world investment experience.

  • Networking: Access to Chicago:Blend’s extensive network of VCs, tech leaders, and alumni.

  • Culminating Event: Participation in Blend:Talks, where fellows share insights on emerging technologies and VC trends with a live audience.

  • Application Cycle: Biannually (Spring and Fall cohorts)

What You’ll Need:

  • At least two years of professional work experience or current enrollment in a graduate program.

  • Demonstrated interest or involvement in the startup or tech ecosystem.

  • Residency in the Chicagoland area, as some programming requires in-person attendance.

  • Commitment to increasing diversity within the VC industry.

Preferred or Required Qualifications:

  • Backgrounds in entrepreneurship, finance, technology, or related fields are advantageous.

  • Strong analytical and communication skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in diverse teams.
