The World Bank Young Professionals Program (WBG YPP) is a highly competitive leadership development initiative for young professionals with a passion for international development. It recruits exceptional individuals for employment across the World Bank, International Finance Corporation (IFC), and Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA). The program is designed to cultivate future leaders through job rotations, training, and exposure to global operations that address the most pressing development challenges.

Role Description:
Young Professionals (YPs) are hired as full-time staff and immediately placed into real operational roles within the World Bank Group. Over a two-year period, they engage in structured learning, leadership development, mentorship, and on-the-job assignments. YPs contribute to designing, implementing, and evaluating projects that impact sectors such as health, education, climate change, infrastructure, finance, and governance across low- and middle-income countries.

  • Application Cycle: Once per year, with onboarding for the next cohort typically in September

What You’ll Need:

  • A Master’s or doctoral degree relevant to World Bank’s mission (e.g., economics, finance, international relations, public policy, engineering, education, etc.)

  • Born on or after October 1, 1992 (for the 2025 cohort)

  • Fluency in English (knowledge of a second language such as French, Arabic, Spanish, or Portuguese is desirable)

  • Demonstrated leadership skills and passion for international development

  • Up to 3 years of relevant professional experience or continued study at the doctoral level

Preferred or Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in development-related work or in the field targeted (e.g., climate finance, infrastructure, private sector development, digital economy)

  • Strong academic and professional track record with global exposure

  • Ability to thrive in multicultural and multidisciplinary environments

  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and policy formulation skills
