This rigorous, interdisciplinary program encourages students to develop original dissertation research that explores and questions the artistic, social, and political ramifications of performance and the performative. Students engage with various disciplines, including theater studies, dance studies, anthropology, sociology, film studies, visual culture, linguistics, literary studies, ethnography, ethnomusicology, computer science, feminist theory, technocultural studies, religion, critical race and ethnic studies, critical theory, and cultural studies.
