Job Description


The Bon Appétit Fellowship Program, established in 2009 by Bon Appétit Management Company, is a unique leadership development initiative for recent college graduates passionate about sustainable food systems. Fellows are hired as full-time employees for one to two years, during which they engage with campus communities to promote sustainability, conduct research on food system issues, and implement innovative programs that align with Bon Appétit’s commitment to “food service for a sustainable future.”

Role Description:
Bon Appétit Fellows undertake a variety of responsibilities, including:

  • Campus Engagement: Collaborate with students, faculty, and dining services to organize educational events, workshops, and campaigns that raise awareness about sustainable food practices.

  • Research Projects: Conduct in-depth research on critical food system issues such as food waste reduction, fair farm labor, and local sourcing. Develop best practice guides and recommendations for company-wide implementation.

  • Program Implementation: Assist in launching and supporting sustainability-related programs on campuses, including food recovery initiatives and student gardening networks.

  • Community Outreach: Lead field trips to local farms and food producers, guest lecture in classes, and facilitate discussions on food system topics to connect academic learning with real-world applications.

  • Application Cycle: Annually

What You’ll Need:

  • Recent graduation from a college or university served by Bon Appétit Management Company.

  • Demonstrated passion for food systems advocacy and sustainability.

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within diverse campus communities.

Preferred or Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in organizing events, conducting research, or leading sustainability initiatives during college.

  • Familiarity with food systems issues and a commitment to promoting equitable and sustainable practices.
