Description of Work
The Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences (https://eas.unl.edu) at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) has an opening for a Postdoctoral Teaching Associate in Meteorology. We are seeking a recent Ph.D. recipient with an interest in developing skills and experience in university teaching. This is a three-semester (August 2025 through December 2026), non-tenure track postdoctoral appointment with the possibility of extension based on satisfactory performance. Teaching duties will include Weather and Climate (METR 100, repeated each semester), Severe and Unusual Weather (METR 140), Atmospheric Thermodynamics (METR 223), and a two-semester sequence in Synoptic Meteorology (METR 341 and METR 442).
The Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences offers a B.S. degree in Meteorology-Climatology, as well as a B.S. degree in Geology, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences with an optional specialization in Meteorology-Climatology. The successful candidate will have opportunities to interface with multiple existing scientific research units at UNL. These include the School of Natural Resources, the High Plains Regional Climate Center, the National Drought Mitigation Center, the Daugherty Water for Food Global Institute, the Nebraska Water Center, the Holland Computing Center, and the School of Biological Sciences. Minimum Required Qualifications
Ph.D. in Meteorology, Climatology, Atmospheric Sciences, or a closely related field at the time of appointment.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior teaching experience.
