The Philanthropy & Nonprofit Accountability Fellowship is a twelve-month, full-time program administered by the National Council of Nonprofits in partnership with the Center for Effective Philanthropy. Launched in 2024, the fellowship equips emerging leaders with the skills and best practices to strengthen transparency, ethical governance, and impact measurement across philanthropic and nonprofit sectors.
Role Description:
Fellows will engage in the following activities:
- Research & Policy Analysis: Conduct comparative analyses of accountability frameworks, draft policy briefs on ethical grantmaking, and develop guidance on regulatory compliance for nonprofits.
- Field Engagement: Partner with participating foundations and nonprofit organizations to assess governance structures, support board training initiatives, and pilot new metrics for social impact evaluation.
- Capacity Building Workshops: Design and deliver a series of virtual and in‑person workshops on topics such as financial transparency, conflict‑of‑interest policies, and stakeholder reporting standards.
- Thought Leadership & Dissemination: Author articles for the National Council’s policy journal, present findings at the Annual Philanthropy Forum, and co‑host a webinar series on advancing accountability practices.

What You’ll Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in public policy, nonprofit management, business, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 2–5 years of professional experience in philanthropy, nonprofit management, auditing, or policy research.
- Demonstrated knowledge of nonprofit governance, financial reporting, and program evaluation methods.
- Strong research, writing, and facilitation skills; ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
