This role is hybrid with on-site expectations in Ann Arbor, MI 3 days per week. You may work evenings and weekends for occasional events and travel. You also may have to work with challenging individual stakeholders and support your staff in doing so. What You’ll Do

As Managing Director you will provide strategic and operational leadership for Ross’s undergraduate programs, including the BBA and Business Minor. Reporting to the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education, you will enhance program visibility, improve operations, and strengthen partnerships. Leading a team of more than 28 professionals, you will have five direct reports: Academic Advising Director; Director of Student Life and Programs; Director of Academic Success; Director of Curriculum Engagement; Director of Undergraduate Admissions. You will work with staff across the school and be viewed as a primary ambassador of the program to students, parents, alumni, and potential partners.

Responsibilities*

Strategic Leadership 30% 

  • Partner with the Associate Dean to set and execute strategic goals for undergraduate programs, securing faculty alignment.
  • Develop and implement strategies to maintain diverse, high-quality enrollment, collaborating with Ross and U-M departments.
  • Oversee long-term scholarship strategies in coordination with Admissions, Finance, and the Associate Dean.
  • Identify and implement innovative program enhancements based on emerging trends and student needs.
  • Ensure an optimal staff structure, leading recruitment, development, and performance management.

40% Operational Excellence 

  • Lead a team managing Admissions, Academic Advising, Student Success, and program operations, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Establish performance expectations, ensuring a student-centered, inclusive, and service-oriented environment.
  • Oversee budgets and external funds, ensuring alignment with program strategy and compliance with financial policies.
  • Collaborate with university stakeholders to deliver high-quality curricular and co-curricular experiences.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness, using data to drive strategic improvements.
  • Develop and execute a marketing strategy to enhance program visibility and enrollment.
  • Support admissions efforts, including reviewing applications, awarding scholarships, and overseeing pipeline programs.
  • Expand and enhance the Summer Business Academy and other strategic initiatives.

20% Relationship Management 

  • Represent the BBA program to internal and external stakeholders, including university partners, media, and global organizations.
  • Engage with campus partners to enhance program success, collaborating with units such as Career Development and Global Initiatives.
  • Strengthen relationships with donors, alumni, and organizations to support program initiatives.
  • Partner with key university offices to ensure program success and student support.

10% Innovation Initiatives

  • Lead initiatives that position Ross as a leader in undergraduate business education.
  • Oversee goal-setting and reporting for innovation efforts in alignment with strategic funding guidelines.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelors degree in Higher Education, Business, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in program development, marketing, strategic planning, or organizational development in a complex organization.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing teams or multiple management layers.
  • Fiscal management skills, including budgeting, expense reconciliation, and financial compliance.
  • Expertise in program/project management and strategic planning.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and database systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, Salesforce).

Salary Information:

The posting range for this position is $102,000 – $161,500. This posting range reflects multiple factors involved in determining compensation, such as skills, experience, training, certifications, and other organizational needs. At Ross, it is not common for new hires to be offered a salary at the upper end of the range. Compensation decisions are based on the details of each situation.
