Detailed Job Description
This is a twelve-month, non-tenure track position (lecturer) in the diagnostic medical sonography (DMS) program, College of Health Sciences and Technology. This DMS program faculty position encompasses mostly didactic and clinical teaching, service, academic advising, accreditation activities and tasks, and course coordination within the program. The faculty member will also work closely with the program director and other faculty members in coordinating and evaluating the clinical education of students during clinical rotations in the program.

Major Responsibilities:
Instruction:
- Actively participate in classroom teaching and instruction of students.
- Provide quality instruction, guidance and direction to students through well-prepared course materials, assignments, expectations and timely evaluations and progress reports.
- Develop and maintain a testing and grading system for students.
- Coordinate, assist and participate in planning and implementing a comprehensive clinical education program.
- Assist in maintaining and evaluating clinical rotation sites and teaching on clinical rotations, in conjunction with the program director.
- Assist the Program Director and program faculty with on-site educational and public relations visits to clinical sites.
- Assist the Program Director and program faculty in developing and recruiting clinical affiliates and student recruitment activities.
Program, College & Institutional Service:
- Participate in program meetings, recruitment, admission, and graduation events.
- Participate in ongoing accreditation activities, ongoing and continuous course and program assessment, evaluation, and review.
- Participate in advisory board meetings which support and influence the instructional program.
- Participate in committee assignments, at the College of Health Sciences and Technology and Institute level (when applicable).
Department/College Description
The College of Health Sciences and Technology is the center for both clinically-related and biomedical research-based innovative, flexible programs to meet both present and future needs of the health care system. Building on a foundation of liberal arts and basic sciences, students will gain advanced knowledge in theoretical science and practical applications in experiential learning environments. These experiences will prepare students to serve humanity as practitioners, scientists, and leaders through their contribution to, and the provision of, high quality patient care, healthcare service, and/or applied translational biomedical research. The college offers undergraduate degrees in Biomedical Sciences, Global Public Health, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Exercise Science and Nutritional Sciences; a BS/MS degree in Physician Assistant; and graduate degrees in Dietetics and Nutrition, Health Systems Management and Medical Illustration.
Required Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in diagnostic medical sonography or equivalent (Required), master’s (Preferred).
- Registry/Certification in abdomen and/or OB/GYN (Required)
- Graduation from an accredited program recognized by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (Required)
- Registry/Certification in echocardiography (Preferred)
- Registry/certification in vascular ultrasound (Preferred)
Experience:
- Minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience in diagnostic medical sonography performing general ultrasound.
- Vascular Experience (Required)
- Cardiac Experience (Preferred)
- Experience in clinical and/or didactic ultrasound education (Preferred)
- Applied AI and/or AI in the Classroom (Preferred)
Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills and an ability to work effectively with others in a team environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, and ability to complete projects under time constraints
- Ability to handle highly confidential information in a professional manner
