Title: Clinical Assistant Professor – Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery

Position Description

The University of Washington (UW) Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery is seeking one full-time faculty position at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor. This position would be an annual appointment with a 12-month service period (July 1 – June 30).

This position will be clinically based at Seattle Children’s Hospital. The individual will function in a group of fellowship-trained pediatric otolaryngologists. As UW clinical faculty, there is opportunity to teach residents, fellows, advanced practice providers, and other trainees. The anticipated start date is January 2026.

This position will be deployed to all SCH ambulatory and surgical sites, covering the full spectrum of pediatric otolaryngology practice including complex airway, otologic surgery, head and neck, and sinus surgery.

Salary

The base salary range for this position will be: $22,083 – $24,583 per month ($265,000 – $295,000 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range represents base salary provided through Children’s University Medical Plan (CUMG) practice plan, and by the University.  Compensation provided by Children’s University Medical Plan (CUMG) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Other compensation associated with this position includes semi-annual additional compensation through CUMG. The UW Department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery targets the AAMC 50th percentile for total salary.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include an MD (or foreign equivalent), certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, and eligible for a Washington State medical license.  In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B, graduates of foreign (non-US) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the US Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.

Title: Teaching Associate – Inpatient ARNP or PA-C – Division of Transplant Surgery

Position Description

The Department of Surgery, Division of Transplant Surgery within the University of Washington School of Medicine is recruiting for a full-time Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (ARNP/PA) positions at the rank of Teaching Associate on a 12-month service period (Jul 1 – Jun 30), with an estimated start date in Fall 2025. Teaching Associates hold annual appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms.  Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.

The successful candidate will be incorporated into the inpatient team caring for liver, kidney, and pancreas transplant patients. The Transplant Surgery ARNP/PA will provide comprehensive clinical care to transplant patients and donors in the pre-, peri-, and post-transplant phases of care along with core multidisciplinary team members.

The base salary range for the position will be: $10,834 – $15,391 per month ($130,008 – $184,692 annually) commensurate with years of experience as a licensed ARNP or PA. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Other compensation associated with this position may include payments for vacancy coverage or premiums for factors such as acuity, nights, call should they apply to service. JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Principal Investigator or designee, the Clinical Research Nurse I is responsible to carry out all delegated tasks related to complex protocols testing investigational drugs, devices, or research interventions.  The Clinical Research Nurse I is a a member of the team and resource for study protocol conduct acting as a liaison between the SLU SOM, clinical partners (ex. SSM Health), the Principal Investigator, Institutional Review Board (IRB), and sponsors to ensure good clinical practice standards (GCP) throughout the life cycle of the study. We currently have openers in Surgery, Nephrology, Pediatrics, and the Cancer Center. We also have a Lead opening for Nurses with prior research experience.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review and abstract medical record information and ensure proper adherence to randomization schema, study drug dosing and administration.
• Screen patients according to study criteria, randomize, enroll, and obtain consent.
• Administratively responsible for scheduling, performing, and/or supervising required study tests.
• Perform nursing assessments of study participants.
• Document and record, in writing or electronically, all study events and protocol related procedures.
• Review clinical system billing charges for accuracy and appropriateness.
• Ensure that all required study event(s) and protocol related data are accurately and efficiently entered in the clinical trial management system.
• Knowledgeable in regulatory and institutional policies and processes; applies appropriately in study documentation, protocol submissions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Enters and collects study related data and develops per appropriate processes. Ensures accuracy and completeness of data for all studies. Recognizes and reports security of physical and electronic data vulnerabilities.
• Maintains participant-level documentation for all studies, including those that are complex in nature, require access to the EHR or require SLU Care/SSM charge routing. Screen participants for complex studies (e.g., procedural, and interventional studies).
• Conducts visits for complex studies (e.g., procedural, and interventional studies).
• Identifies all adverse events (AEs) and determines whether or not they are reportable. Collaborates with the PI to determine AE attributes, including relatedness to study. Conducts and documents consent for participants for all types of studies, including those that are complex in nature and/or require clinical research orders in EHR.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Proficiency in electronic medical records and relevant computer software.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, and attention to detail is essential.
• Ability to work in a team environment to facilitate the integrity of the study and its timely completion.
• Ability to travel to off-site locations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• RN with current registration to practice nursing in St. Louis.
• 3-5 years of relevant nursing experience.
• Current BLS Certification
• Can easily use computing software and web based applications (e.g., Microsoft Office products and the electronic medical record).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Clinical Research experience strongly preferred.
