OVERVIEW

This position is based in Lexington, NE with the geographic accountability region of Arthur, McPherson, Logan, Custer, Dawson, Lincoln, Perkins and Keith Counties. Focused on young children and their caregivers (e.g., parents, early childhood teachers), this position will contribute to the integrated (extension, research, and teaching) land-grant mission of the home unit and the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources as an effective scholar and citizen.

The primary responsibility for this position is to develop and deliver high quality, innovative educational programs and resources as an active participant in the work of the Early Childhood team and may be active in a statewide issue team that addresses current issues facing Nebraska. This position is expected to interact closely with parents, teachers, early childhood professionals, and caregivers of young children in their geographic area and possibly statewide based on the current projects and goals of the Early Childhood team.

Nebraska Extension’s Early Childhood team supports adults who play a role in young children’s lives by providing educational programming and resources about early child development and early care and education. Adults play a significant role in setting the stage for young children’s lifelong learning, discovery, and success. The Early Childhood team is committed to empowering these adults to support and provide effective learning experiences for Nebraska’s young children. Such early learning experiences enhance Children’s readiness (physical, cognitive, social, and emotional) for school and setting them up for lifelong success.

This twelve-month, non-tenure track position carries the title of open rank extension educator or extension instructor, depending on the candidate’s level of education. Those possessing a graduate level degree in the requested area of instruction will be considered for an open rank educator position, a full-time, promotable, non-tenure track appointment. Those in possession of an undergraduate degree in the requested area of instruction will be considered for an instructor position, a full-time, non-promotable, non-tenure track appointment that will be renewed annually for a maximum of five years in the appointment. If hired as an instructor, the incumbent will be expected to make satisfactory progress towards and complete a master’s degree within the initial five-year appointment period. As part of the Nebraska benefits package, UNL offers tuition remission for full-time employees, up to 15 credit hours per year. Once the master’s degree is earned within that period, the position will advance to an assistant extension educator appointment.

PROGRAMMATIC RESPONSIBILITIES (approximately 80%)

Uses high-impact, innovative strategies, and current technologies to design, develop, deliver and evaluate programs for robust statewide extension education programs focused on the Early Childhood team’s goals.

Engages in a collaborative learning environment with professionals and caregivers to encourage the adoption of research-based information in decision-making.

Delivers educational programming for early childhood statewide and within the assigned accountability region. Within the assigned accountability region, the incumbent will also engage with unit leaders, Extension Engagement Zone Coordinators, extension advisory committees, and local stakeholders to determine needs and provide access to educational opportunities.

Works in a multi-disciplinary team environment with extension professionals and other partners to translate and teach the latest research-based information.

Uses entrepreneurial practices to secure grants, program fees, and partnerships to leverage the extension educational program’s resource base and reach.

Partners with research faculty to engage in action research that can be applied to educational programming.

Practices effective extension scholarship by engaging in community-based participatory research, conducting needs assessments, identifying priorities in partnership with communities, measuring program impact, and reporting results at professional meetings and in professional publications.

Participates in professional development to enhance and maintain professional expertise in both early childhood and extension pedagogy.

Supports the youth development program by teaching in areas related to the Early Childhood focused assignment.

ORGANIZATIONAL CITIZENSHIP/LEAD EDUCATOR ROLE (approximately 20%)

Master’s degree in child development, human development, early childhood education, or closely related field (extension educator) OR bachelor’s degree in child development, human development, early childhood education, or closely related field (extension instructor). This position is based in Holdrege, Nebraska, with the geographic accountability region of Phelps, Gosper, Harlan, and Furnace Counties. Primary responsibilities include developing and delivering water and cropping systems extension programming that: a) improves profitability and sustainability, b) reduces environmental risk, c) encourages stewardship, d) enhances resiliency, and e) expands consumer awareness of food, forage, grain, and fiber. The incumbent is an active participant in developing solution-based resources as a member of the statewide Water and Cropping Systems team.

Develops, delivers, and measures impacts of programs and engagements regarding rainfed and irrigated crop production systems in Nebraska.

Participates in collection and interpretation of data to develop data driven, digital, and precision agricultural management strategies for clientele.

Uses innovative strategies and cutting-edge teaching and learning methods to design, develop, deliver, and evaluate programs for a robust extension education program focused on water and cropping production systems within the assigned geographic region, and as a member of the statewide Water and Cropping Systems Team.

Engages in a collaborative-learning environment with crop producers and encourages adoption of research-based information in decision-making.

Participates in and supports the Nebraska On-Farm Research Network.

The Leadership Studies Program in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Iowa State University is seeking credentialed and experienced leaders for a half-time Lecturer role. This position will play a key role in growing our interdisciplinary undergraduate Leadership Studies Program.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

Iowa State University’s Department of Music and Theatre seeks a dynamic and experienced Lecturer of Percussion for a one-semester appointment, beginning 8/16/25. The successful candidate will teach applied percussion studio, direct the percussion ensemble, and manage the percussion instrument inventory and maintenance.

Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one applied lessons for approximately 12 undergraduate percussion students.
• Lead weekly percussion studio class
• Assist in on campus recruitment events and preparation for percussion auditions and juries.
• Direct the university’s percussion ensemble, including selecting repertoire, preparing for the fall concert, and coordinating rehearsals.

Program Delivery

• Participates in ongoing promotion and recruitment of audiences for nutrition education classes for the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program.
• Teaches nutrition education classes to eligible participants at various community sites.  Sites include schools, parks and recreation departments, faith-based organizations, health departments, and other locations.  Lifting and carrying teaching materials and/or supplies up to 50 lbs. May require standing, stooping, pushing and/or pulling. May require standing for prolonged periods of time both indoors and/or working outside to perform teaching lessons.  Classes are in-depth, requiring a minimum of six lessons for each group of participants.
• Collects demographic data on clients served.  Evaluates knowledge gained and behavioral changes through approved program evaluation tools.
• Refers participants to government and local agencies for public assistance, such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
• Markets the program through health fairs and other locations where a booth or display is appropriate.  Works in coordination with appropriate agency staff to ensure the delivery of quality services to the EFNEP participants.

Engages in professional development and training opportunities to maintain current knowledge of food and nutrition subject matter, becomes more proficient in determining participant needs, understands various methods of reaching and teaching EFNEP participants, and develops proficiency in using the EFNEP teaching materials via participation in orientation training, and continues self-study.  Continuous on-the job training is presented by the supervising faculty on a bi-weekly basis. Thorough training for virtual education will be provided.

Travel

Stays within assigned travel allocation while traveling to assigned teaching sites from the official headquarters.  Travel is by means of a personal vehicle, for which mileage will be reimbursed monthly at the current state rate. Travel overnight required. Mandatory attendance for the entire out-of-county annual training.

Reporting

Maintains accurate records and reports on clients and personnel requirements.  Submits reports on time for Supervisor or other designee.  Works with agency staff in utilizing records, reports, and other resources to assist in program implementation and in evaluating program impact.

NEs will achieve and maintain food safety certification (SafeStaff).

Saint Louis University, a Catholic, Jesuit institution dedicated to student learning, research, and service, seeks dynamic applicants who can engage and inspire a diverse student body as an adjunct instructor in the Theatre & Dance program of the Department of Visual and Performing Arts. This one-semester adjunct instructor position ranges from August 18-December 12, 2025 with the potential for renewal.

The Theatre & Dance program offers an undergraduate major and minor in Theatre and a minor in Dance. SLU’s Theatre & Dance program collaborates as a theatrical company, fostering commitment to our community while strengthening student abilities in performance, design, direction, dramaturgy, and management. The dance minor investigates the expressive potential of dance.

The Theatre & Dance program is seeking one or more adjunct instructors to teach DANC 2100 Ballet Technique I (TTH 11a-12:15p), DANC 2200 Jazz Dance Technique I (MW 12:45-2), and/or DANCE 2850 Musical Theatre Dance (MW 2:15-3:30) in the Fall 2025 semester. Sample syllabi would be available for the hired instructor/s. Adjunct Instructors are responsible for course planning, syllabus preparation, instruction, and communicating with students in our Canvas learning management system. In addition, adjunct faculty are responsible for student evaluation, grading, and timely and accurate submission of required information related to instruction.

Required Qualifications:

Candidates must:

• Have five years (minimum) demonstrated teaching experience in at least one of the three needed areas of Ballet, Jazz, and Musical Theatre Dance in an educational setting.
• Hold a BA or other undergraduate degree.
• Have an ability to work with students with diverse levels of dance experience.
• Be skilled at bringing knowledge of the practice, culture, and history of dance forms into the classroom.
• Be prepared to plan a course syllabus, learning objectives, and assessment for student performance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Have demonstrated teaching experience in two or three of the needed areas of Ballet, Jazz, and Musical Theatre Dance in an educational setting.
• Hold an MFA degree in Dance or related field.
• Have experience working with college students who are minors in Dance and non-minors from a variety of other disciplines.
• Have experience working in a university setting.
